Nürburgring Kart Circuit Track Guide

Fast footage

Behind the grandstand on the pit-straight of the Nürburgring F1 Circuit, lies a hidden-away gem of an indoor kart track: Ring°kartbahn. Solar powered, safe and fun, this is good thing to do while visiting the Nürburgring proper.

Driver notes

Best overtaking spot:
On the inside of the switch-back corners, as showcased in this video.

Pro tips:
Absolutely minimise your sliding - as any scrubbing of speed is punished harshly. The karts have a strong tendency to understeer, so avoid ever entering a corner with excess speed, as you will struggle to recover to your desired racing line and lose a LOT of lap time running wide.

Kart review:
These are high-powered electric Rimo karts, with F1 or V8 engine sounds. They are surrounded by a metal "bumper" which will sap significant laptime if you hit other karts or the barriers. Unusually for a European track, the karts also feature mandatory seat belts and roll bars.

Inside track

You buy "tickets" to race in 10 minute increments. No race suit is required, so you can drive in shorts and a T-Shirt if you wish. It's very dark so be wary of using your own tinted visor. Seeing your laptimes whilst driving is tough, as the projector screen over the track is a little hard to look at from the track itself. You will receive a print out afterwards with your laptimes. Despite being electric, there is a reasonably significant difference in performance between the karts.

Value for money:
7/10
