Whilton Mill National Track Guide

Fast footage

Join Racing Dean, driving for Karting Track Guides as we explore Whilton Mill National layout. Whilton Mill has both National and International layouts. The National or “Zulu” layout is a little shorter than the International circuit, but equally tricky. It’s a rapid lap to drive, with lots of fast corners, straights, heavy breaking points, and loads of places to overtake. This footage was captured during a Club100 SP60 event, which features 15 mins qualifying, followed by two 30 min races. Where you finish in the first race is where you start in the second. Racing Dean is a “Club” standard driver, driving about 1 second per lap slower that the “Elites”.

Preferred overtaking spots:

Whilton Mill Zulu overtaking

Where to overtake at Whilton Mill

There are four main spots to pass other karts. Coming into Christmas corner is the most obvious. You enter Christmas going at max speed and enter an uphill braking area. There’s lots of track to play with and decent run off if you get things wrong. Shortly after that are the Z’s. The first right hand hairpin offers the kart on the inside a real advantage in terms of block the kart to the outside. Later in the lap, coming into “The Boot,” there are options during breaking into the corner and through the complex if teh karts ahead get too “squirrelly.”

Kart review:

The Club100 karts feature a 125cc 2-stroke Rotax engine. (Formerly 100cc TKM engine - hence the name.) For this outing, they would have fresh rubber on the front tyres. They’re the fastest arrive and drive karts you can race!

Value for money:

The recording was taken during an SP60 Endurance Race. Races cost £280.00 per round inc. + £50.00 one-off registration fee.

Inside track

Whilton Mill is as good as it gets for karting. There’s a freshly laid tarmac parking area, a large club house with comfort seating, and a professional kitchen. Toilets are fairly decent too. Spectating is good too, with indoor and outdoor options.
