Overtaking at Red Lodge Karting
This is a circuit renowned for difficult overtaking so you've got to take every opportunity that's presented to you. One of the best places to make a move is 180 or the Esses. Since these corners change direction at a relatively low speed, pulling off a switch-back is your best bet.
Despite being at the end of the Main Straight, it's difficult pulling off a move into Senna; going to the inside is easily defendable as the corner goes from left to right. Going around the outside will force you into the tyre wall of the right-hander.
In summary, take every chance you get at this track and hope your opponents make mistakes that you can capitalise on!
Pro tips:
Since the rentals at Red Lodge don't have too much power, it's important to be as smooth as possible; if you scrub off any speed by sliding, it'll take much longer to build it back up.
Braking technique is a huge factor here, too. Since many of the corners require braking while turning in, you'll have to get used to managing the relationship between the brakes and steering. Especially at Senna, it's tough at first but the only way to improve is practice, practice, practice...
Other than that, the best advice I can give to any newcomer at this circuit is to ask the staff for tips! They're always happy to impart their racing knowledge and give you any pointers for where you may be going wrong.
Red Lodge kart review:
Red Lodge Karting has 270cc Biz Evo 3s. They have a great chassis which, when paired with a 270cc engine, offers great handling. You may think a 270cc engine would be a little underpowered but, as it's a twisty track, the lighter weight more than makes up for it. At the time of writing this, the karts are quite new so they're all very even on pace.

Onsite facilities:
Affectionately known as the Monaco of karting, Red Lodge has a unique anti-clockwise track that offers a challenge even to the best racers. It's quite a high-tech track, too; with digital flag lights, a "jumbotron" on the start/finish line and cutting-edge Alpha Timing.
Value for money:
The circuit offers quite a few options for getting you out on the track. They offer arrive 'n' drive for as little as £24 for 15mins but, if you want the faster 270cc karts, you'll be paying £29. For £64 a round, you can race in their rental championship, Formula270. It's not quite as exhilarating as Club100 but for a few hours of championship racing each month, we think it's a good deal.
