Driver notes
Overtaking at Warden Law:
The main overtaking opportunity is into Gasworks hairpin. With a good drive out of the back chicane it is easier to dive up the inside and stop the kart on the apex, not allowing your rival the opportunity to get back past.
Senna 1 harpin is also a good overtaking spot but you must have trust that your rival is not taking a wider, later turn in and can see you, to avoid a clash!
Pro tips:
As with all tracks, some kerbs are you friend, some are not! Track is a slippery smooth surface even in the dry and find tyre higher pressures than other tracks work better.
Owner/driver kart spec:
2021 MS Prokart chassis
RPM GX200 senior sealed twin engine
Weight limit 185kg (senior)
Dunlop SL1 tyres
Inside track
Onsite facilities:
A fabulous track to drive with great facilities. Durham is only a short drive away but plenty of amenities on site. Good toilets/showers and a great canteen with a good view of the track, the pies are not to be missed. Staff are friendly and helpful and power available throughout the tarmacked paddock. Other events available on site as it is park of a Motor Park (paint balling, trials riding, etc).
Value for money:
BPEC is the best value for money owner driver karting once you are in a team and the costs are split. Seat time over a race weekend is almost as much as a full season sprinting! It is a serious championship and a high level of driving. To begin I would advise joining a team with experience of the championship.
